Updating quickbooks in a multi user environment
List Refresh is NOT the same thing as List Re-sort.
When Quick Books is running in multi-user mode and various users are all accessing the same list(s), a change made by one user will affect the company database but will not necessarily update the information displayed on the same list currently displayed on a different user’s computer.
Ever since the start of the Automatic Update came out, a very large number of messages about problems started popping up in the Intuit Community Forum.
Now that we understand the concept of refreshing reports, and why refreshing is necessary, we can talk about another kind of ‘refresh’ that many Quick Books users, including seasoned professionals are not aware of: “List Refresh”.
Using full-featured versions of Quick Books, Sky Sphere can provide inventory, grouping, advanced reporting and other features in the standard desktop versions.
Quick Books Online only lets see one screen at a time – there is no way to do a side-by-side comparison of reports or entries like you can with desktop QB software.
However, note that I have a lot of experience in doing these updates.
Also, as I mention in my article on automatic updates, for many of my clients I turn the automatic update feature OFF so that you don’t have one employee installing the update by accident, at a time that isn’t convenient.
